Call for Submissions

M2GARSS 2026 - Marrakech, Morocco

The Organizing Committee of Mediterranean and Middle-East Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium 2026 (M2GARSS 2026) is pleased to invite Master's and PhD students to participate in the Three Minute Thesis (3MT™) Competition.

About the 3MT Competition

The 3MT™ competition, originally developed by The University of Queensland, challenges participants to present their research in just three minutes to a non-specialist audience, using only one static slide.

The objective is to:

  • Be:
    • Master's students, or
    • PhD students, or
    • Have defended their Master's or PhD thesis within the last year
  • Present a thesis whose topic falls within the fields of geoscience and remote sensing.

Note: Participants are not required to be registered at M2GARSS 2026 at the submission stage. Shortlisted candidates will be required to register as non-presenters in order to attend and present at the conference.

Submission Process

To participate, candidates must submit:

  • Title of the thesis
  • A short abstract (max. 250 words)
  • A short abstract (max. 250 words)
  • Affiliation and contact detail
  • CV

📌 Note: No video submission is required at this stage. Selected candidates will be invited to present live during the conference.

Selection Process

🔹 Phase 1 - Pre-selection

Submissions will be evaluated based on:

  • Scientific quality (40%)
  • Originality (20%)
  • Clarity and accessibility (40%)

Top candidates will be shortlisted.

🔹 Phase 2 - Final (On-site at M2GARSS)

Shortlisted participants will:

  • Deliver a 3-minute presentation
  • Use only one static slide
  • Present in front of a jury and audience

Awards

  • 🥇 Prizes will be awarded along with certificates.
